Was TTIP (die "Transatlantische Handels- und Investitionspartnerschaft") über den Nordatlantik erreichen will, soll mit TPP ("Trans Pacific Partnership") in Fernost gelingen. Dreh- und Angelpunkt beider Freihandelsabkommen sind die USA, die zu den treibenden Kräften dieser Abkommen gehören. China und die ASEAN-Staaten der Association of South-East Asian Nations arbeiten als Gegenpol an RCEP ("Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership") und der FTAAP ("Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific").
